In a new interview with FluxFM, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd said the band’s long-awaited ninth album is “ready to go,” and is “probably going to come out in October.” The upcoming release would mark the band’s first full-length LP in eight years, serving as a follow-up to 2017’s 8. “We actually finished the album a little over two months ago,” Boyd said. “It’s mastered, it’s mixed, it’s just ready to go. We’re working on the artwork for it.” While Boyd is excited about the new project, he expressed reluctance to release it in the current music climate. “The sad part about finishing the album in this day and age, is that I would love to put it out tomorrow, but it would get just lost in the shuffle of the internet.” The project is produced by the band’s longtime collaborator Brendan O’Brien, and features new bassist Nicole Row. Incubus is preparing to kick off the North American leg of their Morning View + The Hits Tour starting in June. (Consequence of Sound)
